ROLAND FOWLER, 79 - MAYFIELD, Ky. — Services for Roland Fowler, 79, of Mayfield will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Lebanon with the Rev. Gerald Bell officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine Church Cemetery. Mr. Fowler died at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday at his home. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he retired from Heath Building Supply and was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Fowler played semi-pro baseball with the "House of David" baseball team in 1949 and 1950, and coached basketball at St. Augustine High School. He coached Little League football in Lebanon and Senior League and American Legion baseball teams in Mayfield. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Joyce Fowler; three sons, David Fowler and Brett Fowler, both of Mayfield, and John Fowler of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, Joe Fowler of Lebanon and Tommy Fowler of Lexington; two sisters, Alma Parrott of Lebanon and Evelyn Nicholson of Louisville; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lou Ann Fowler Williamson; one brother; and two sisters. His parents were Roland and Rebecca Megee Fowler. Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Byrn Funeral Home here, and after 5 p.m. Monday at Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society or Lourdes Hospice.

ROLAND FOWLER, JR., 79, Mayfield, died Dec. 21, 2005, at his residence. Born Nov. 24, 1926, in Louisville, Fowler was retired from Heath Building Supply and a World War II Army veteran. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Roland, Sr., and Rebecca McGee Fowler; a daughter, Lou Ann Fowler Williamson; a brother, W.A. Fowler; and two sisters, Dorothy Wayne and Lila Mae Jobe. Survivors include: his wife, Joyce Fowler of Mayfield; three sons, David and Brett Fowler, both of Mayfield, and John Fowler of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, Joe Fowler of Lebanon and Tommy Fowler of Lexington; two sisters, Alma Parrott of Lebanon and Evelyn Nicholson of Louisville; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A funeral Mass was held Dec. 27 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Lawman Chibundi officiated. Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Lourdes Hospice, P.O. Box 7100, Paducah, Ky., 42002-7100. Pallbearers were David, John, Brett, Joshua and Adam Fowler and Al Sherick. Bosley Funeral Home, Lebanon, was in charge of the arrangements.
