'BILL' ABELL, LOCAL BUSINESS MAN, DIES. WILLIAM "BILL" ABELL SR., co-owner of Abell's True Value Store died at 6:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 1978 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Louisville after a long illness. The 63 year old Lebanon businessman became a partner in the store with his brother, Chester Abell in 1969. He previously had been part owner and operator of Abell-Dever Ford Motor Company in Lebanon. Abell lived at 230 Walnut St. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Abell was the son of the late Richard and Annie Mattingly Abell. He is survived by his wife, Kelly Dever Abell; two daughters, Mrs. Ursula Luckett of Lexington and Mrs. Mary Kim of Louisville; five sons, William Abell Jr., of Lexington, R. Mike and Charles D. Abell, both of Louisville, Joseph Kelly Abell of Beaufort, S. C. and John Abell of Lebanon; and 14 grandchildren. Services were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5 at St. Augustine's Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Massey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were his nephews, Charles Chester Abell Jr., Danny Richard Abell, Timmy Abell, Terry Abell, David Abell and Tommy Abell.(abstracted by Dolores Bohn)
