Ed served in the U.S. Navy as a First Class Seaman with the Lyon Eight in WWII. He received the American Area Vistory Medal and Asiatic Pacific.

He was a music teacher for St. Francis, Jewell, Sedgwick and the McPherson, USD 418, junior high school. He retired after 37 years of teaching.

Survivors include: his wife, Maxine (Nelson) Henry of McPherson; daughter Kristin Ann Sandwell of Wichita, son Richard Allen Henry of McPherson; brother Herbert Gene Henry of Lincoln, Neb.; eight grandchildre and nine great-grandchildren.
