Herbert G. Henry, 87, passed away on Saturday July 11, 2015. Herb was born Nov. 16, 1927 in Hardy, NE the son of Hubert and Katherine Henry. After graduation from high school Herb moved to Lincoln and married Ruth E. Lane in 1947.
He served in the Naval Reserve for five years. He started working for Latsch’s in the stock room and as delivery man and rose to salesman and, eventually, to President and owner of the company prior to his retirement in 1990. Herb was a 33rd degree Mason, and was a member of Scottish Rite (Life Member) and Sesostris Shrine (Life Member), where he served in the Scimitar Foot Patrol.
Herb was an active member of the downtown chapter of Kiwanis, serving in various offices through the years. He was an attendee/member of St. Paul United Methodist Church for 69 years. Herb was a devoted husband and father, a fan of Univ. of Nebraska sports, an avid woodworker and stamp collector (Lincoln Stamp Club).
Herb is survived by his wife, Ruth; four children, Gregory Henry, Ann Henry (Barry), Mitchell Henry (Marge), Blaine Henry (Katherine); six grandchildren and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edwin.
Memorial service on Friday, July 17, 2015 at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Private family gravesite service on Saturday at Hardy, NE.
