Vera Hansen, 85, of Memphis, died Monday morning, February 21, 2005, at Scotland County Memorial Hospital.

The daughter of Fred Jacob and Mabel (Peterson) Arps, she was born February 19, 1920, in Arcadia, Iowa. She was a graduate of Woodbine High School in Woodbine, Iowa.

On October 31, 1941, she was married to Alford Hansen in Dennison, Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 23, 1963.

To this union two sons were born: Dennis A. and Ronald R.

Vera worked for the Armstrong Can Factory in Chicago, IL, for over twenty years. On July 1, 1989, she retired and moved to Memphis.

She was active with the OATS Bus. She enjoyed crocheting and crocheted lap robes for the Scotland County Care Center residents.

Survivors include her two sons: Dennis A. Hansen of Las Vegas, NV, and Ronald R. Hansen of Dover, TN; two grandsons; two granddaughters; two brothers, Lowell F. Arps of Woodbine, IA, and Lloyd Arps of rural Memphis, MO; and various nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held on February 24, 2005, in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Milton, Iowa, with Pastor David Barton officiating. Curvin, Curvin Dean, Clinton, Delmar, and Eldon Martin served as pallbearers.
