A family story is told that Grandfather George Eacret left one morning with a horse and wagon and crossed a river. The family thinks he was either murdered or drowned. His wife Mary Ann was so depressed that she simply walked away from her children. They were raised by neighbors, friends and other family members. Most of the early Eacret family lived and died in Jennings County Indiana.
