Mrs. Layton was a school teacher, store clerk and a homemaker. She was active in 4-H Club, Home Demonstration Club, Farm Bureau Association and a charter member of the Mississippi Cattleman's Association.
Services were Thursday, Feb. 27, 1992, 2p.m., from Old Good Primitive Baptist Church, Magee, with burial in church cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Maurice Layton of Magee; one daughter, Peggy McGuire of Magee; two sisters, Susie Whetstone of Magee, Ruby Roberts of Jackson; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Mims Mitchell Funeral Home of Magee handled the arrangements.
