Deceased Name: PETER B. ALBERDA
Peter B. Alberda, 89, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, in Bozeman. He was born on July 18, 1917, in Churchill to Henry and Gertrude (VanderBurg) Alberda. He graduated from Manhattan High School. Following graduation he continued working for the family hardware store in Manhattan.

He married Helen Anderson in Anaconda in 1942, and they moved to Seattle where Pete worked at the Todd Shipyards during the war. He started a garage in Seattle after the war with his father and brother-in-law. His three children, Carolee, LaVonne and Dale, were all born in Seattle.

In 1949, Pete and his family returned to Bozeman where he took a mechanic job for Noreen Motors (Nash dealership). He then took a job as maintenance manager for Gallatin County, where he worked for 30 years before retiring.

He had a passion for knowing all the roads in Gallatin County and spent much of his retirement driving a pickup or SUV throughout rural areas of southwest Montana. Pete is survived by his daughters, Carolee (Roy) Ehresmann of Livingston, and LaVonne (Roger) Schell of Pacific Grove, Calif.; son, Dale (Janene) Alberda of England; sister, Eva Deana Farmer of Bozeman; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
