Ellsworth Durham / Succumbs Monday

Ellsworth (Dick) Durham, 90, of 121 Daniels Street, died at 1 p.m. Monday at Jones Nursing Home in Fowlerton after a three-year illness. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from Leatherman-Morris Funderal Home with Rev. Chester Perkins officiating and burial will be in Fairview cemetery. Friends may call anytime at the funeral home.

The deceased was born Aug. 2, 1872 in Tipton county, son of John Wesley and Harriett (Chetum) [Cheatham] Durham. He was married in 1895 to Martha Taggart [Tygart] who died in 1901; in 1902 he married Grace Davis and following her death in 1918 he married Sally Pugh in 1938 and she survives. He had attended Wesleyan Methodist Church and was a farmer in the county until his retirement.

Surviving in addition to the widow are three daughters, Mrs. Cora Kelly of Kokomo; Mrs. Nelly Gillem, of Kokomo; Mrs. Charles Tidler of Tipton; a son Paul Durham of Muncie; 34 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.


Mr. Durham was married four times. Listed below are his wives and marriage dates;
1. Martha L. J. Tygart/Taggart (married Oct 12, 1895).
2. Grace Davis Bradburn (married Oct 16, 1902).
3. Ida McGraw Tyler Farmer (married Jul 17, 1925).
4. Sallie Campbell Pugh (married Dec 24, 1938).
