Harry Gar Hilliard, 75, of Stanley died Friday morning at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville. Mr. Hilliard was born September 9, 1903 in Page County and was the son of Flora Good Hilliard of Stanley and the late Charles S. Hilliard. Mr. Hilliard was married twice. After the death of his first wife, the former Eva Dinges, he married the former Myra Mayes, who survives. Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are two daughters, Louella Broyles of Brunswick, Georgia and Patricia Moore of Jacksonville, North Carolina; a step-son, Herbert Wilson of Orlando, Florida; two step-daughters, Janice Pettit of Stanley and Junella Melton of Galesburg, Illinois; three sisters, Thelma Koontz of Shepherdstown, West Virginia, Vera Painter of Bethesda, Maryland, and Florine Cubbage of Stanley; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. The Reverend H.H. Jenkins and Elder Ernest Long conducted the funeral Monday afternoon at Bradley Funeral Home in Luray. Burial was in Leaksville Cemetery.
