Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Pierce funeral home for Charles Harned who died at his home southwest of town Saturday morning, October 31. The Rev. William Moon was in charge of final rites. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery.
Charles Davis Harned was the son of Robert and Sarah Burkhart Harned and was born in Salem, Indiana on September 23, 1904. On July 2, 1938 he was married in Kahoka, Mo. to Marie Stevens. He had farmed in the Morning Sun community since 1926.
Surviving are the wife, a daughter, Mrs. Eupha Schmidt of Crawfordsville, and a son, Edward, stationed at Patrick Air Force Base, Florida. Also surviving are two grandchildren, two brothers, Glen of Salem, Indiana and Clyde of Starughn, Indiana, and two sisters, Mrs. Elmo Wells, Bordan, Indiana and Ruby Harned, Pasadena, California.
