Former Local Man Dies In California.

Frank Jackman, formerly well known here, died Sunday afternoon at his home in Los Angeles where he had been ill for several months with heart trouble. For the past four weeks his condition had been extremely serious. News of his death came to Darlington in a telegram from Mrs. Jackman to Mrs. Fred Haas.

Mr. Jackman was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Jackman and was born in the Young's Chapel neighborhood, 68 years ago. When a boy he attended school in Darlington and graduated from the grade school with the class of 1893. Sometime later he went to California where he was train baggage man for the Atchison, Topeka and Sante Fe railroad for many years.

Following his retirement from railroading and after the death of his first wife, he came back to his old home for a visit and while here, on October 13, 1938, was married to Mrs. Florence Buchanan who he had known while in school here. They returned to California to make their home.

Surviving besides the wife are two brothers John Jackman of Crawfordsville and Charles Jackman also of California. Funeral services and burial were in Los Angeles.
