Raymond E. " Bestie' Best, 76, of Knox, formerly of 1660 Perry Highway, Fredonia, died at 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 2010 at Golden LivingCenter in Shippenville.

Born July 25, 1933, in Monroe, Clarion County, he was the son of Joseph and Grace Eisenhuth Best.

He was married in May 1970 to Ireta Wheaton, who preceded him in death in April 2001.

Raymond worked for the carpenters union.

He enjoyed going to livestock auctions, hunting, fishing and lunches at B.J's Restaurant.

He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Raymond is survived by three children: Timothy Best and his wife Shelly and their children, Jessica Dailey and Lauren Best of Jackson Center; James Best and his children Katelynne Jessie and Kaleb of Fredonia; and Rebecca Best Dominguez and her children, Francisco and Zacharia of Greenville.

Also surviving is a sister, Patricia "Patty" Best Greenawalt of Knox; four brothers, Glenn "Cork" Best and his wife, Delores, of Erie, Chester "Chet" Best and his wife, Gloria, of Florida, Phillip "Skip" Best of Knox and Arthur "Butch" Best and his wife, Eleanor, of Knox.

Additional survivors include many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Edith M. Best and a son-in-law, William Dominguez.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the David C. McEntire Funeral Home, Inc., 504 East Penn St., Knox.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Dan Myers, pastor of Mt. Joy United Methodist Church of Knox, officiating.

Interment will follow in Mt. Joy Cemetery.
