Joseph R. Best, 77, of RD2 Knox died Friday, March 9, 1984, in Clarion Hospital. Born May 14, 1906, in Licking Township, he was a son of the late Miles and Mary Huntsburger Best. He was married to the former Margaret Grace Eisenhuth, who died in 1975. Mr. Best was a carpenter and a member of Mount Joy United Methodist Church. Surviving are five sons, Raymond E. of RD1 Fredonia, Phillip M. of Knox, Chester R. of Oil City ( a retired senior master sergeant), Glenn R. of RD4 Union City, and Arthur E. of RD1 Knox; one daughter, Mrs. Patricia Greenawalt of Knox; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Irene Koehler of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Mrs. Thomas (Mildred) McCall of RD3 Emlenton, and one brother, Marion Best of Westport. One daughter, Edith May, two brothers, Irwin and Morris, and three sisters, Virginia, Catherine and Laura preceded him death. Services were at 11 a.m., Monday from the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Knox with the Rev. Gale D. Boocks officiating. Burial was in Mount Joy Cemetery.
