HERNDON -
Daniel P. Carl, 78, of Herndon, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born Aug. 7, 1931, in Herndon, a son of the late Clyde and Carrie (Rothermel) Carl. He was the husband of Betty Carl, who survives.
Daniel served in the Army during the Korean War.
He was employed as a quarry worker at Meckley's Limestone, Herndon, and was a brick layer for many years before.
Daniel regularly attended Grace Community Church in RR Herndon and was a member of Alvin E. Long American Legion Post 504, Herndon, and the Herndon Fire Company and a former member of the Bricklayer and Allied Craftsmen, Shamokin.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Ernie Schreffler, of Dalmatia; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Barbara Carl, of Herndon; one brother, Henrery Carl, of Herndon; one grandson, Jeremiah Schreffler; and one great-grandson, Nolan Schreffler.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Teri Lee Carl; one sister, Jean Ferree; and two brothers, Charles and Robert Carl.
There will be a visitation from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Community Church, Herndon, followed by the funeral at 11 with the Rev. Gerald Evens officiating.
Interment will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
Funeral arrangements are by the James A. Reed Funeral Home, Pillow.
