Henry J. Carl, 90, of Herndon, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2019, at the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
He was born April 17, 1928, in Herndon, a son of the late Clyde A. and Carrie M. (Rothermel) Carl. On March 7, 1949, he married the former Jennie E. Harner who survives. They just celebrated 70 years of marriage.
Henry was a lifelong resident of Herndon and attended the Herndon schools. He served in the Navy on the USS Larson.
He retired as a brick layer with the Shamokin Brick Layer's Union #46.
He was a member of St. Paul's U.C.C., Urban, and a life member of the Herndon Fire Company.
Henry enjoyed hunting and trapping.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Roy Adams of rural Sunbury; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Jodi Carl of Herndon, David and Christie Carl of rural Sunbury; five grandchildren, Tony Adams, Paula Carl, Brian Carl, Tammy Wolfe, Tyler Carl; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Ferree; and three brothers, Robert C, Daniel, and Charles Carl.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, at St. Paul's UCC, Urban, followed by the funeral at 11, with the Rev. John Miller officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Henry's memory to St. Pauls UCC Building Fund, 1473 Urban Road, Herndon, PA 17830.
