Timothy Allen, s. of Daniel Allen and Azuba Ladd, b. of record Nov. 4 (bp. Nov. 20), 1748 in Mansfield, Conn. He d. May 20, 1822 in Ashford, Conn., Æ 74 (g.s.), his stated age at death on his gravestone a misuse of the symbol "Æ."

Timothy wrote his will in Ashford, Conn on June 28, 1814, in which he named second wife Lois and Nathan Howard as joint executors of his will, which wife Lois later refused to accept, while bequeathing to Lois her dower thirds in real and personal estate. He left $100 and one-half of all his remaining real and personal estate to son Ephraim, with the remaining one-half to Ephraim's dau. Mary, then only nine years old and Ephraim's only living child. The estate was inventoried on June 14, 1822 totaling $1,337.66, with portions of both the real estate and personal property (multiple pew seats in the Ashford Baptist Meeting House) later sold to settle small debts.

On Oct. 6, 1772 at the Scotland Society Church, then part of the Town of Windham, Timothy m. as his 1st wife, Mary Allen, his 12 year older half-first cousin once removed, dau. of Joseph Allen and Rebecca Fuller, born of record Nov. 24, 1736 (bp. Feb. 6, 1736/7) in Windham, Conn. She d. Aug. 5, 1811 in Ashford, Conn., Æ 75 (g.s.) Because of Mary's age at marriage, Timothy and Mary had only one child:

• i. Ephraim Allen, b. of record Nov. 7, 1776 in Windham, Conn., d. Apr. 9, 1854 in Eastford, Conn. (g.s.); m. Mar. 6, 1800 at Ashford, Conn., Hannah Sumner, dau. of Edward Sumner, Jr. and Experience Marsh, b. of record Jan. 9, 1774 in Ashford. She d. Aug. 28, 1840 in Eastford (g.s.) Two children of the marriage. Ephraim and Hannah's only surviving child, dau. Mary, married and left one child, who married but died childless in 1890 ending the descendant line of Timothy and Mary (Allen) Allen.

On Oct. 20, 1811 at the Scotland Society Church, Timothy m. as his 2nd wife, Lois Silsby, dau. of John Silsby and Huldah Carpenter. She was bapt. of record July 8, 1764 at the Scotland Society Church and d. Sept. 5, 1828 in Ashford, Conn. (g.s.) Lois has no recorded date of birth, but given that one has to be born before one is baptized, the symbol (Æt.) used on her gravestone to state her age at death has been misused. On the day Lois died she was then at least 64 years old, and at least Ætatis suæ (i.e., Æ, Æt, "Aged," in the XX year of her Age) 65. There were no children of this second marriage.
