Funeral services for Bobbie Lee Skipworth Farmer, 91, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Mark´s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Bruce Green, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Farmer died at 3:40 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, in Prairie House Living Center. She was born Aug. 22, 1910, in Kress. She received a bachelor´s degree in music and a master´s degree in education from Texas Tech University. In addition, she completed extra work at Wayland Baptist University, Abilene Christian College, Mississippi Southern University and Matlock Teacher´s College. She studied in England, Copenhagen, Paris, Geneva and the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Her professional memberships included the Musical Arts Club, Plainview Cultural Arts Council, Opera Guild, Ham Radio Club and many music teacher associations plus faculty status and adjudicator in the National Guild of Piano Teachers. She was an approved teacher for the American College of Musicians and received the Hall of Fame Honor. She was a three-time nominee for Woman of the Year in the Panhandle and also had been honored by the Plainview Soroptimist Club and several Who´s Who listings including the U.S. Registry of Who´s Who of Outstanding Americans for 1994-95. She received the Plainview Chamber of Commerce Citizens Service Award in 1993 and in 1999 received the Pioneer of the Year awarded by the Senior Citizens Center. A gifted writer, she reviewed cultural arts performances and concerts for the Plainview Daily Herald for many years.

On Sept. 2, 1934, she married Robert Farmer in Gray County. He died April 16, 1993. Survivors include two sons, Robert Farmer of Tomales, Calif., and James Farmer of Napa, Calif.; a brother and sister-in-law, Edwin "Skip" and Wilsie Skipworth of Amarillo; four grandchildren, including Geoffery Farmer of Plainview; and three great-grandchildren.
