Mrs. Elizabeth Hendrix

Newberry Feb. 13--(special)–Ms. Elizabeth Pitts Hendrix 76, widow of T. W. Hendrix died early this afternoon Joanna Memorial Hospital in Joanna. She had been in declining health for the past five years and was seriously ill for the past several weeks.

Ms. Hendrix was born and reared in Newberry county, the daughter of the late Joe and Mary Reeder Pitts but had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Hayne Willingham of Joanna for the past 25 years. She was a member of Epworth Methodist Church of Joanna and an honorary member of the Women's Society of Christian Service.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon from the Joanna Epworth Methodist Church by her pastor the Rev. Joe G. Giles assisted by the Rev. James B. Mitchell of Joanna. Interment will follow in Trinity Methodist Church Cemetery in Newberry County.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. J. L. Corley of Lexington and Mrs. Hayne Willingham of Joanna, one son James H. Hendrix of Greenville, two brothers Reeder Pitts of Silverstreet and Jimmy Pitts of Newberry, 25 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.

The body will remain at the McSwain Funeral Home here until 5 o'clock. Wednesday afternoon when it will be carried to the home of her daughter Mrs. Hayne Willingham 200 Sims Street Joanna.
