David C. Donohue of Avondale

David C. Donohue, of Avondale, went home to be with our Lord on Nov. 13, 2007, after a brief illness. He was 55 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Posey Donohue.

He was the son of Edward W. Donohue and the late Betty Geisler Donohue of West Chester.

David is survived by five children, David Ryan Donohue of Lexington Park, Md., Beth Robinson of Halifax, N.C., Bryn Outlaw of Leland, N.C.; Christina Donohue of Avondale; Lee Donohue of Avondale; two stepchildren: Anna Meadowcroft Butler of Wilmington, Del., and BJ Meadowcroft of Atglen; two granddaughters: Hailie Butler and Makayla Donohue; also surviving are his three brothers: James Donohue of Louisville, Ky., Douglas Donohue of Wilmington, Del., and Edward 'Ted' Donohue of Ft. Myers, Fla.

David was a 1969 graduate of Henderson High School and a graduate of Goldey Beacom College. He served in the United States Army Reserves.

Many will remember David for his entrepreneurship; Thatcher's Drug & Medical Equipment, West Grove Pharmacy and Chatham Acres Nursing Center.

Perhaps most will remember David for his gift of music. He was praise and worship leader at Avondale United Methodist Church and played his guitar and sang at many community churches and services.

David was a board member of Open Door International Inc. of Orlando, Fla.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at the Avondale United Methodist Church, 3rd and Chatham streets, Avondale, on Saturday, Nov. 17, at 1 p.m.

Interment will be at Longwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, giving the gift of life (blood) is strongly suggested to the American Red Cross, or donate to: The Cancer Center of Chester County-SHINE, 440 E. Marshall St., Suite 201, West Chester, PA 19380; Avondale United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 114, Avondale, PA 19311.
