Operation Three Years Ago Failed to Improve Her Condition.
After almost three years of declining health, Mrs. Albert Ehlert passed to her reward at her home here Saturday morning.
In August, 1928, she submitted to a serious operation with the hope her condition might improve. But her health continued to fail. Three week's ago her condition grew worse and she was taken to the hospital at Waverly. However, she was brought home last Thursday and the end came Saturday morning.
Mrs. Albert Ehlert, nee Stahr, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Stahr. She was born at Kansas City, Kansas, June 18, 1885. She was 46 years and 9 days old at death.
The family later came to Iowa and lived near Hawkeye. Here she attended school and after receiving instruction in the fundamentals of Christian faith was confirmed at the Windsor church by Pastor Albert.
She was united in marriage with Albert Ehlert February 11, 1904, the ceremony being read by Pastor Herman Bredow. They lived on a farm south of town 16 years. In 1920 they moved to Sumner, where they have since made their home. This union was blessed with seven children, four sons and three daughters, of whom two daughters died in infancy.
Her death is mourned by her husband; her children, Harley of Waverly, Walter, Edward, Inez and Glenn at home; five brothers and four sisters; Henry Stahr of Eldorado, Will of West Union, George of Hawkeye, Albert of West Union, Art of West Union, Mrs. Ernest Warnke of Oelwein, Mrs. Tillie Reisner of West Union, Mrs. Bertha Schatz of Oelwein, and Mrs. Leroy Gehring of Waverly.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the St. John's Lutheran church with Rev. C. J. Mardorf officiating. Interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery.
