Haywood S. "Woody" Lindsey, 94, of 1108 S. 11th St. passed away at 8:28 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at Pekin Hospital.

Born April 3, 1915, in Mason County to Luke Pryor and Sarah Rebecca (Gould) Lindsey, he married Florence E. Vale on Sept. 1, 1934, in Havana. She died Jan. 31, 2001, in Pekin.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Joyce Lindsey and Joan Lindsey; five sisters; three brothers; and one great-granddaughter.

Surviving are one son, William H. "Bill" (Connie) Lindsey of Manito; four daughters, Martha R. Hayden of Pekin, Bertha E. (Gerald) Haverkamp of Metropolis, Janice K. (Aaron) Denton of Manito and Donna J. (Roger) Frampton of Pekin; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Woody worked for Keystone Steel & Wire Company in Bartonville for 38 years, retiring in 1978 from the galvanizing department. He was a member of the Keystone Good Fellows Club and enjoyed time spent at Leisure Oaks.

Woody also was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and loved to hunt and fish.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
