F24th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry

Company A

3rd Sergeant-Enlisted September 22, 1862, at Camp Fort, Georgia. Promoted to 2nd Sergeant, May 20, 1863.


The "7th Georgia Cavalry" was formed by the consolidation of the 24th Battalion Georgia Cavalry, four companies of the 21st Battalion Georgia Cavalry and the two companies of the Hardwick Mounted Rifles, dated Feb. 13, 1864. Company A became Company G in the new regiment.

Promoted to 1st Sergeant, April 27, 1864. He was captured on June 11, 1864 near Louisa Courthouse, Virginia, and sent to Fortress Monroe on June 20. Transferred to prison camp at Elmira New York on July 25, 1864. Died of dysentery/diarrheal illness on September 15, 1864, and buried in grave #280 at what is now Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira New York.
