Civil War Union veteran; 19th Indiana Infantry, Company K "Selma Legion". He was a carpenter in Delaware County, Indiana when he enlisted on July 29, 1861 at the age of 24. He was wounded in action at Gettysburg on July 1, 1863. He was mustered out of Company K on July 28, 1864 at Indianapolis, Indiana.
