Our loving, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Anna Ethel Healy Cottrell, age 92, passed away April 11, 1999, in Bountiful, Utah.
Ethel was born February 7, 1907, in Murray, Utah, the daughter of James Lawrence and Anna Jensen Healy. She married Raphael "Ray" Charles Cottrell on July 18, 1928, in Murray City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Ray preceded her in death on July 14, 1982. Graduated Murray High School and Comptomter Business School. Retired from Bennet Paint and Glass.
She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Martha Capson Camp. Member of the East Millcreek Lady Lions Club. She was a volunteer Pink Lady at the Cottonwood Hospital. Ethel was an active member of the LDS Church where she served as Ward Organist Murray 2nd Ward, East Millcreek Stake Sunday School Secretary, Rosecrest Ward Relief Society President, Garden Heights Ward Relief Society President, member of the Young Women's Presidency and member of the Caynon Rim Stake Sunday School Board. She worked as an Ordinance worker at the Salt Lake LDS Temple. One of Ethel's most memorable experiences was when in her youth she played the piano in Sacrament Meeting fro heber J. Grant who sang all seven verses of "Who's on the Lord's side Who?" Ethel was a kind and loving individual who was devoted to her family; she was held in high esteem by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the personnel of Apple Tree in Kaysville, Heritage Place, and Life Care Center in Bountiful, for the kind and loving care extended to our mother.
Survivors include one son and two daughters:Shirley Anne Cottrell (John) Stewart, Fruit Heights, UT; William R. (Adella) Cottrell, Provo, UT; Claudia E. Cottrell (Dennis) Keldsen, Beaverton, OR; 12 grandchildren,; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virgie H. Bringhurst, Holladay, UT; Dorothy H. Robinson, Murray, UT. Preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Marie H. Wallace, Mabel H. Berger; seven brothers, Leo, Rex, Marvin, Ray, Wayne, Earl, and Bill Healy.
