On the afternoon of January 24, 2010, Dad left this life surrounded by family and friends who love him.

Clarence was born to Clarence Loyal and Ruth Viola Christensen Andrus on January 2, 1921.

He met Emma McOmie on a blind date in early summer of 1941; they married on February 20, 1942; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple June of 1955. Clarence married his second wife, Emily Ennis Stone, on November 15, 2004. He proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II from 1942-1946.

Dad is survived by six children, Raymond (Sharon) Andrus, Roger (Cora) Andrus, Loy Ann (Keith) Smith, Terry (Larry) Sidwell, Pat (Jeff) Purser, Michael (Frankia) Andrus; six step-children, Jerry (Maxine) Stone, Diane (Layne) Downs, Renae (Ernie) Bedont, Marilyn (Robert) Larson, Lonnie (Kathy) Stone, Robin (Brent) Bonham, Bob Stone (deceased); and three brothers, Willis (Deloris) Andrus, Jim (Dorothy) Andrus, and Jay (Phyllis) Andrus. Clarence leaves behind many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Emma McOmie Andrus; his second wife of five years, Emily Ennis Stone Andrus; his parents; two sisters; three brothers; and a grandson.

We are confident Dad is enjoying a wonderful reunion with Mom and many others who love him and have eagerly awaited his arrival. While we will miss him terribly, we are also happy for him. We are reminded of a poetic line regarding passing from this life to the next, "As one shore bids a sad farewell, another extends a loving and joyous greeting."

Friends may attend a viewing Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street (100 East), and Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 11:00-11:45 a.m. in the Corner Canyon First Ward Building. Funeral Services will be held in the Corner Canyon First Ward Chapel, 13000 South Boulder Street (1470 East), on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 12:00 p.m.
