Obituary: Pollard Bean 1918 - 2010
Pollard Bean, 91, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 19, at his home in rural Madison Missouri.
Pollard was born near Madison on Sept. 23, 1918 to George and Dimple (Pollard) Bean on land homesteaded by his great-grandparents in the 1820's. On Aug. 27, 1941 Pollard married Lavonne "Bonnie" Conway. This past August they celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary.
Pollard served in the U. S. Army during World War II as a drill sergeant and medic prior to duty in the Pacific Theatre. Following an honorable discharge, he farmed and operated a backhoe business in the Madison area. In addition, he worked as a rural letter carrier for 25 years, retiring in 1987.
Gaveside service and burial at Hickory Grove Cemetery, in Ash, Missoui, where Pollard was a lifetime member, and he served as a trustee.
