Robert Anderson II was born on November 12, 1799 at Carrickston Farm in the Parish of Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. His parents were Robert Anderson I (a tenant farmer at Carrickston) and Jean Gray. He was married two times. His first wife was Margaret Russell (daughter of William Russell and Margaret Miller of Kilsyth). They were married on November 17, 1821 in the Parish of Eastwood, Renfrewshire, Scotland. Robert II and Margaret had nine children named Jean, Robert III, William, Margaret (Mrs. James Anderson, married her 2nd cousin), John, James, James, James Russell, Jean Russell (Only Robert III, Margaret, and John lived to adulthood). Margaret died on March 19, 1838 at 15 Stockwell. Then Robert II married Marion Miller Provan (Daughter of James Miller and Marion Colquhoun) on November 9, 1839 in the Parish of New or East Kilpatrick, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. Marion had two children from a previous marriage named John (of Boston, Massachusetts) and Marion Provan (Mrs. John Stewart of Chicago, Illinois). Robert II was a master baker in Glasgow at 15 Stockwell and then 45 Trongate. He died on June 13, 1847 at 56 Trongate. The cause of death was Typhoid Fever. The burial tool place on June 16, 1847 at the North Street Burial Ground.
