OBITUARY;
William Seldon Page was born in Mo. on June 1, 1838, and married Mary McCrum on Oct. 2, 1859. To this union, 2 sons and 2 daughters were born, the first, Merten H. (deceased), 2nd, Alma V., Mrs. P.D. Peck, third, Seldon B. of Waterloo, and last, Flora A., Mrs. H.H. Barnhart. He came to this community when a boy, sometime between 9 and 12 years, and has resided here since, being counted as one of the early settlers. He was converted at age 20, and graced his profession by a blameless and Christian life, which was always above reproach. He could say, like from good old Samuel, "I have walked before you from my childhood". He was a cheerful and generous giver and an earnest and tireless worker. The gentleman, who shaved him after his death said, "When I was a boy, he would come to school and pick up a bob sled of children and give them rides, and then draw into his pockets and give us candy." He was a true and steadfast man of the church, often coming to its help in time of need. The things of the Kingdom of God, were the most vital to him, and in which he delighted to revel. He commenced to fail in health some months ago, and his decline was steady. Up to the last day, he was up and walked from room to room. Upon retiring, he seemed a little drowsier and when he retired, fell into a deep sleep and awoke to be forever with his Lord on Jan. 27, 1921. The funeral services were held Saturday at the M.E. church, and were largely attended. He was laid to beside his wife of his youth, who had preceded him to a better world about 25 years ago in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Peace be to the ashes of this dear old man and comfort and consolation to his loved ones.
