She was a daughter of the late Fleming D. and Lula Miller Ackerman. She was 92. She was retired from the J. C. Penny Co. and the Sumter SPCA. She was a member of Four Holes Baptist Church and the Couples V Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Sumter SPCA.

Survivors include a son: Malcolm Russell (Mary Sue) Fersner of Orangeburg; two daughters: Elaine (George) Kotchmar of Columbia and Dayle Fersner of Sumter; a sister: Joyce Stelling of Summerville; six grandchildren: Gerald (Julie) Fersner of Orangeburg, Denise (J. D.) Sikes of St. Matthews, Kimberly (John) Thweatt of Pell City, AL, Tracy (Shane) McKay of St. Augustine, FL and David Kotchmar of Asheville, NC; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
