Lewis Barringer (July 5, 1910 - January 21, 2010) *165 days shy of 100 years old*

Lewis Barringer, age 99, of Coker, died Jan. 21, 2010, at Glen Haven Nursing Home. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Coker Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tim Long officiating. Burial will follow in Coker Cemetery with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Paris Barringer; his daughters, Sue Collins and Jean Bell; his parents; two sisters; and five brothers.

Survivors include his daughter, Joy Little (Olen) of Prattville; his son, Johnny Barringer (T'lene) of Coker; his sister-in-law, Helen Barringer of Coker; his brother, Sydney F. Barringer (Frances) of Coker; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers are the staff of Glen Haven Nursing Home who cared for papaw for the last seven years.
