Mr. Barringer was born in Coker, Alabama on September 24, 1905, and lived in Tuscaloosa his entire working life.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn Ryan Barringer, his parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Lou McGuckin (John) of Fresno, Calif.; two sons, David Festus Barringer (MaryJo) of Birmingham and William Ryan Barringer (Cindy) of Haleyville; grandchildren, Erin McGuckin Gonzales of Clovis, Calif., Derek McGuckin of Ridgefield, Wash., Paige Barringer Benson of Birmingham, David S. Barringer of London, England, Jason Barringer of Atlanta, Ga., Capt. Brooks Barringer of San Angelo, Texas, and Mattie Barringer of Haleyville; two brothers, Sidney Findley Barringer and Lewis Barringer; eight great-grandchildren, Alexis Gonzales, Ryan, Zachery and Kaylie McGuckin, Mackie and Josie Benson, Ryan Elizabeth and Davis Barringer.
Mr. Barringer lived 102 years, loving his Lord, his family, his church, his many friends and especially Bama football and sports. He felt blessed on his recent birthdays to always have a few members of the Crimson Tide Football team come and help him celebrate. He was the last surviving member of the first Northport High School football team.
Pallbearers are Jason Barringer, Brooks Barringer, David Barringer, Derek McGuckin, Reginald Walker, Sidney Barringer, Johnny Barringer, and Frank Barringer.
Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of Forest Lake Baptist Church.
Special thanks to Dr. John Summerford and his staff, the staff at Morning Point Assisted Living who cared for him for eight years and to the staff of Forest Manor and Hospice of West Alabama who helped him complete his journey in life.
