Carol R. Neel, 66, of Slater, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at her home.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan 22, 2007, at Slater United Methodist Church in Slater. Rev. Jess Spurgin officiated. Burial was in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Breshears, John Alan Breshears, Robert England, Clyde Alspaw, Ethan Green and Buddy Hirt. Honorary pallbearers were Tylere Dowell, David Alspaw, Melvin Alspaw, Darrell Neel, J. D. Russell and Daniel Smith. Memorials are suggested to the Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.

Born May 6, 1940, in Rosebud, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Marie L. Williams McDaniel. On April 30, 1955, in Marshall, she married D. Gene Breshears; he preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 1983. On Nov. 28, 1986, she married Robert J. Neel; he preceded her in death on March 22, 2004. She had worked at Banquet Frozen Foods in Marshall, Slater Garment Company and BHA in Slater until her retirement.

She is survived by three sons, Clifford Breshears of Slater, Johnny Breshears of Bunceton and Marvin Breshears of Blue Springs; four daughters, Janice Breshears of Slater, Lola Breshears of Slater, Linda Hirt of Carrollton and Jeanine Dowell of Marshall; four step-sons, Robert Neel of Arcadia, Kevin Neel of Bismark, Greg Neel of Blackburn and Darrell Neel of Slater; two step-daughters, Sherri Croney of Iron Mountain Lake and Debbie Russell of Blackburn; 22 grandchildren; 30 step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Evelyn England of Marshall, Margie Jolliff of Marshall, Sandra Alspaw of Marshall, Diane Kateman of Marshall and Joyce Garrison of Concordia; one brother, Wayne McDaniel of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Billy Gene McDaniel, two sisters, three brothers and three great-granddaughters.
