One of eight children Alfred Lea was the son of Dr. Pleasant John Graves Lea. He was sent on a wagon train from Missouri by his father because of the border war there. He would never see his father again as he was tortured and murdered by the Kansas Jayhawkers there. Alfred arrived in Denver, Colorado in 1862 just 4 years after it was settled. He married Hersa Coberly Soule and had 3 children, Elvira, Mary and Homer Lea. Hersa died not long after Homer was born and he married Emma Wilson.

I know the headstone gives dob as 1855 but that is incorrect. The death cert/ census records prove he was born in Tennessee, 1845. I am not sure f-a-g allows you to put the actual info that is other than what is chiseled on the headstone but would make it easier for Descendants to find him. Thank you so much for your hard work in bringing them to the families.
