Suggested edit: James Howard Lardner, better known as Jim, was born at his parent's residence, 250 Linden Avenue in Auburn, CA. The third of twelve children of the pioneer Lardner family, he attended local schools and was graduated from Placer High School in 1934. He was employed by Keena and Williams, local grocer, and also the State Theater. During the war, he worked at the Marin Shipyards. Upon returning to Auburn he joined his father in the family business, Lardner and Lardner Contractors and Builders. They were known for building quality homes and commercial buildings in Auburn and throughout Placer and El Dorado counties. Upon his father's death, Jim took over the business and successfully ran it with the principles his father had established: honesty, trustworthiness, quality and dependability. Jim retired in 1983. His affiliations were Rotary, Elks, Tahoe Club and SIRS of Auburn.
