Karl married Emile Reuther in 1884 in Odessa, Ukraine.

Fleeing the Bolshevik Revolution, Karl and Emelia along with 6 of their 7 children (Sophia being their only daughter and child born in America) traveled to America on the ship "Carmania" arriving 17 Oct 1906 at Ellis Island.

In 1911 Karl moved his family from Clinton, OK where they had been living with his brother-in-law, John Reuther. Their home was located 8 mile South of to Indiahoma, OK.

Karl was a butcher by trade.
