Mary Eliza "Mollie" is a daughter of Grigsby and Angeline Butler Rector who married in Anderson County, Tennessee on January 27, 1845. They moved their family to Dade County, Missouri in 1852 where Mollie was born.

A few years before her death she was living with her daughter Harriet Adelia (1847-1928), and her husband Albert Clinton Hayward near Dadeville, Dade County, Missouri.
