Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church here Wednesday at 4 p.m. for Francis [sic] Lucille Spruill, 27, wife of R.V. Spruill. Mrs. Spruill died here late Monday.
Rev. Jeff Moore of Borger, former pastor of the First Baptist Church here, conducted the services. He was assisted by Rev. Roy Shahan, present pastor of the church.
Pallbearers were W.R. Parker, Jim Beason, Roy Spruill, Jim Banks, Duck Gilchrest and Billy Pearl Gardenhire.
Flower girls were: Miss Avis Kilpatrick, Miss Joe Lamb, Mrs. Jack Been, Miss May McElrath, Mrs. Jim Beason, Miss Catherine Henry, Miss Velma Melton, Mrs. W.I. Glosson, Jr., and Mrs. Carl Wood.
Burial was in Fairview Cemetery. Marcum-Vandeventer Funeral Directors were in charge of directions.
Born December 22, 1922 at Enid, Oklahoma, Mrs. Spruill had resided in Memphis for the past seven years. She was married to R.V. Spruill here on December 23, 1945. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Hammons.
Mrs. Spruill had been a member of the First Baptist Church since early childhood.
She is survived by her husband, her parents, James Hammons of Arenett [sic] Oklahoma; Myrtle Hammons of Memphis; six sisters, Mrs. M.L. Anthony of Holdenville, Oklahoma, Mrs. Gladys Gilreath, Calif., Mrs. Mary Lee Padgett of Oregon, Mrs. J. D. Harris, Miss Faye Hammons and Miss Pauline Hammons of Memphis.
Mrs. Spruill is also survived by two brothers, John of Memphis, and Samuel of Palm Springs, California.
