Nels A. Nelson

Nels A. Nelson was born near Helsingborg, Skane, Sweden, April 8, 1859, and departed this life Dec. 26, 1937, at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 18 days.

In 1882 he immigrated to this country, spending one year near Marysville, Missouri, and in 1883 he moved to a farm near Dunbar, Nebraska. There he was united in marriage to Johanna Carlson March 12, 1884. To this union five children were born, two sons and three daughters. The two sons died in infancy and the eldest daughter, Mrs. Harriet McCloughan, passed away Dec 30, 1928.

In 1891 he and his family moved from Dunbar to a farm two miles southeast of Ong where they made their home until March, 1920. At that time they moved to their present home in Ong.

He was a member of the Ong Methodist Church and attended faithfully as long as his health permitted. Even during his illness he maintained a keen interest in his church,

All through his long period of suffering, he was patient, uncomplaining and always thoughtful of others.

He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, two daughters, Mary H. Nelson and Mrs. Maude Anderson and three grandchildren besides many relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1:30 at the home and 2:00 o'clock at the church with the Rev Virgil Leach in charge. A mixed quartette, Mrs. Will Herrick, Miss Fae Bottom, Dean Wight and Paul Anderson, sang "Rock of Ages," "No Night There" and "Sweet By and By." Fred Bumgardner, Fred Wilchens, Adolph Anderson, Will Herrick, Algot Peterson and Irl Hart served as pallbearers.

Interment was made in the Ong Cemetery.
