WILLIAM MICHAEL "MIKE" HARDESTY, 90, of Payneville, passed away Friday, May 22, 2009 at Corydon Nursing and Rehabilitation in Corydon, Ind. Survivors include seven children, Mary Chism, Phyllis Kendall, Georgia Gordon, Martha Lambert, Paul Hardesty, Tommy Hardesty and Michael Hardesty. The funeral is at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Mary Magdalen of Pazzi Church in Payneville, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and after 8 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home.

WILLIAM MICHAEL "MIKE" HARDESTY, 90, Payneville, died May 22, 2009, at Corydon Nursing and Rehabilitation in Corydon, Ind. He was born April 19, 1919, in Brandenburg, to the late John Thomas and Mary Bertha Kerrick Hardesty. He was a member of St. Mary Magdalen of Pazzi Church in Payneville, and retired from civil service at Fort Knox. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Beatrice Irene Allen Hardesty; four children, Jean Marie, Margaret Ann, Mary Ruth, and James Willis; a great-granddaughter; six brothers, John, Thomas and Bernard, Clarence, Hubert and Joseph Hardesty; and six sisters, Lavona Price, Mary Schulz, Georgia Matz, Generose Hardesty, Alma McCauley and Veronica Pike. Mr. Hardesty is survived by seven children, Mary Chism (Mike Judd), Harrodsburg, Phyllis (Rick) Kendall, Ekron, Georgia (Ed) Gordon, Elizabethtown, Martha (Joe) Lambert and Paul Hardesty, Brandenburg, Tommy Hardesty, Payneville; and Michael (Mona) Hardesty, Guston; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held May 26, at St. Mary Magdalen of Pazzi Church in Payneville. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Diabetes Association.
