TERRIBLE CASE OF DESTITUTION
A Father and Son Suffer for the Necessaries of Life
The death of a young man, named Milstead, on Saturday morning, brought to light a terrible case of destitution and suffering. The young man, who was a sufferer from consumption, and an aged father, moved several months ago into a house on 7th street opposite the brewery. Very little was known about them, except the fact that the mother of the young man had died a short time previous to their moving into the neighborhood. Both the old man and his son have been ill for several weeks and were entirely dependent upon themselves. There was but one bed in the house with scarcely any covering and for a number of weeks the old man has slept in a chair owing to the illness of his son. During the past two weeks of extremely cold weather they suffered greatly from cold and neighbors was called to their condition. Efforts to obtain fuel and food for them were only partially successful. Until almost the last there was no one save the father, who is very ill and infirm with age, to minister to the dying son's needs.
The remains were taken to Cedar Grove cemetery for burial.
The father was too ill to attend the funeral and his condition is said to be one of great destitution.

I verified who this was through death records. His name is on the death record. Also it was his stepmother Aberilla who had died, not his mother.
