She lived in Columbus, Ohio for many years after leaving Union County. During this time she lived with her widowed mother (after early 1888) and was a teacher in the Columbus City Schools, teaching elementary and middle grades, likely not knowing at one point she was working at the Eighth Ave. school with a future cousin in law Helen Hafford. In 1890, while working at the First Ave. school she made a salary of $468.75 for the year!
Upon her retirement (after 1906) she relocated from Columbus, passing away at a rest home in Unionville Center, Ohio. She was buried alongside her mother in the historic Mitchell-Robinson Cemetery in Union County, Ohio.
