Robert Lee King Sr. was born on Tuesday, May 27, 1873. He passed away on Monday, March 24, 1919.

He lived to be 45 years, 9 months and 25 days old.

In the late 1880’s Robert Lee King began serving as the constable when he was a young man. He served as Harris County Constable in Precinct 4 around the town of Waller and area. Waller and Harris Counties joined a there jurisdiction over rode the Town of Waller. He served until 1915 some thirty odd years. James Crocket “J.C.” Jenkins was serving as constable in the eastern part of Waller County and in the town of Waller. Much of there work was with the folks getting off the freight trains and a making them self at home. They were that days homeless and they were riding the rails of the trains and getting off anywhere they desired. They would ask for food and at night they would steal for the local folks. They became to be a big problem for the area. They just did Light stealing.” Waller had to established a building for a jail to hold these folks until they could be transported to the county seat jail. They just did “Light Stealing,” meaning they would steal anything they couldn’t carry.

Constable King and Jenkins often would worked with the Texas Rangers and the Southern Pacific Railroad Detectives. Bob King opened a grocery and saloon in Waller from. Mr. R.L. King served on the first Waller School Board.

Robert and his wife Mae Anna had three children, Robert Lee King, Jr., (who is buried in a cemetery in or around Plano, Texas). And a daughter Anita King Miller who lived in Waller most of the rest of her life and died at 102 years old. A son Dewey Lee, King who died as a child. There is a King buried in the Waller Cemetery with just a headstone with the name KING and no dates.

Some of the is information came from Howell King Scroggins who lives in Tomball, Texas. He was raised by Anita and Gilbert Miller. Some information came from the book “The History of Waller, Texas.”
