Death of Mrs. Gibbs.
At one o'clock last Thursday afternoon Jane, wife of D. C. Gibbs, who had been for many weeks a constant sufferer, passed away. Through all her sufferings she had been strengthened and fortified by an abiding and a Christian hope that had been beautifully exemplified in a life of good works. She bore her pain and suffering without a murmur or complaint, bowing with humble submission to the will of Him whom she had served so faithfully. Mrs. Gibbs was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moses Bean, of Fort Covington, and was 65 years of age. March 19th, 1866, Dennison C. Gibbs claimed her for a bride, and they established an ideal Christian home, surrounded by all refining and uplifting influences. Early in life Mrs. Gibbs embraced tbe Christian faith and became a member of the W. M. church of this place. All who had come within the circle of her influence treasure the remembrance of a gentle spirit, wbo was ever anxious to faithfuily perform every Christian duty and deeds of love, leading a life to accord with the example set by her Master. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. George Hall, of Brushton, and Mrs. James Spauldlng, of Bangor, and three sons, Charles R., Leslie S. and Wesley S. Gibbs, of this place, and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Wade, of Providence, R. I., and Mrs. Gardner Orton, Brushton.
The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock from the house. Mr. Lewis, of Brushton, officiated, assisted by Rev. Chas. Heath. Interment was made in the family plot."
