William James Staub was born near Woodsboro, a son of Luther J. and Sarah Elizabeth Baugher Staub and was twice married; secondly to his wife of 31 years, Elizabeth Mae Ramsburg Metz Staub who survives him.

During Bill's first marriage to Christine Drew Staub who predeceased him in the 1970's, they lived in Marion, S.C. He was employed there for a number of years, and when returning to Maryland was employed by the Frederick Iron and Steel Company from which he retired.

He was a veteran of the US Army, serving as a paratrooper with the rank of Spec 4, from 1945 to November 1946.

Bill was a member of the Braddock Lutheran Church and the American Legion, Post 168, Thurmont.

In addition to his wife of 31 years he is survived by these children from the first marriage, two sons, William James Staub Jr. and wife Gayle, Lois, S.C. and Joseph Staub, Myrtle Beach, S.C. and three daughters, Theresa Burney and husband Charles, Ingram, Texas; Debbie Cleaver and Karen Staub both of Holden Beach, N.C. and two Step-sons, Hayes Luther Metz Jr., Thurmont and Norman Thomas Metz and wife Sue, Frederick and three step-daughters, Hazel LaRue Joes and husband Bob; Claudia Elaine Deeds and Sandra Lee Newcomer and husband Russell , all of Frederick numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews..

He is also survived by three sisters, Elsie Abrecht, Edna Newcomer; Lillian Mock and husband Charles and Evelyn Coker and was predeceased by three brothers, his twin brother, James Staub and Samuel and Luther Staub.

He is also survived by a group of special friends, John Frazier, Casper and Thelma Harding, Jane Weedon and brother-in-law, Herbert Ramsburg and wife Frances.

Funeral held at the Stauffer Funeral Home with pastor, Kimberly Numberg officiating , pallbearers were, Casper Harding Sr.; Dwayne Deeds; Hayes Frazier; John Frazier Jr.; Danny Metz and Randy Metz and internment made in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Hansonville, by Stauffer funeral directors.
