Mr. Rathjen married Martha Louise Hintze February 17, 1915 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Davenport. After her death, he married Eva Schmidt in 1976 in Davenport.
He was self-employed as a building contractor retiring in 1957. Harry was a member and organizer of the "Rathjen's Rainbow Dance Band" and former "Three Kids" band. He was a volunteer for the Commission on Aging for Senior Iowans.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Phyllis (William) Bell, Summerville, South Carolina and Lois (Cecil) Funk, Bettendorf, Iowa; one son, Russell "Rusty" of Winter Haven, Florida; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Martha; two brothers, Horace, in infancy, and Hugo; one sister, Ella Friederichs; one half-sister, Helene Jensen, and one half-brother, Albert Rathjen.
Services were held at the Runge Mortuary.
