Raised in Troy and Unity plantation, he graduated from Unity-Freedom High School in 1962, and received a bachelor’s, master’s and certificate of advanced study in education from the University of Maine. A natural teacher and motivator, he began a long tenure with SAD 4 ad Piscataquis Community High School, as a teacher of history and government and athletic coach in 1966. In the 1980’s, he added part-time director of Adult and Community Education to his duties. In 1990, the program grew to his full-time occupation. He built the program into one of the most highly enrolled, successful adult education programs in Maine.
He was a civic minded volunteer and community leader.
He is survived by his wife, Carol (Richardson); children, Jeffrey & Beth Myrick, Gary & Lauren Myrick, Elizabeth Myrick & husband Prasad Sharma; 3 grandchildren. Also survived by his siblings who helped raise him, Loran & Marjorie (Myrick) Tinker, Clayton & Barbara (Myrick) Blood, Paul Myrick and Philip Myrick; as well as lifelong friends Andrew and Sharron Picard.
