2nd husband of Mary Elizabeth 'Libby' Strange
Services for James LaVoy Connell, 77, of Temple will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple with the Rev. Johnny Miller and Ted Davis officiating.
Burial will be in Moffat Cemetery.
Mr. Connell died Friday, Jan. 15, at his home.
He was born on Jan. 8, 1933, to Olan and Abbie Green Connell in Heidenheimer. He was a 1950 graduate of Temple High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. In 1972, he married Libby Strange Ashby. He was a long-time resident of the Temple area. He worked for Mobil Chemical and Pactiv. He was a member of Oak Park United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Temple; three sons, Joe Mack Connell of Temple, Greg Ashby of Blanco and Craig Ashby of Canyon Lake; three daughters, Kim Nunez of Little River-Academy, Karen Connell of Temple and Jimmye Bedford of Alvin; three sisters, Lucille Murphy, Mildred McQueen and Tate Fipps, all of Temple; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Oak Park United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
