Abraham and Sarah were married in Kentucky, moved to Tennesse then to Missouri. The family moved to Texas , arriving in 1850 by wagon. They first lived east of Mckinney on Pete Fisher's farm then to the Strode homeplace betwen Ardath and Altoga. Everything was a wilderness when they came in 1850 with nothing but Indians and wild animals. Only 5 families lived east of McKinney at that time. They stayed here 3 years, clearing some ground for a garden to supplement the diet of wild game. In 1857 they moved to what is now the Milligan Community and located on what was known as the Uncle Bill Anderson place. Their only neighbors were the J.J. Massies, Burl Massies, and Wiley Druggers.
