Chris Anast 1926 ~ 2010 WEST VALLEY CITY- The beloved head of our family Chris Anast, age 83, passed away peacefully at his home on January 14, 2010. Chris was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 9, 1926 to George and Christine Farmakis Anast. He was raised in Granger, Utah and graduated from Granite High School. Chris married Betty Louise Skinner in 1943 and were together for 34 years. She died November 3, 1977.

Chris honorably served his country as a master radio operator in the Army Air Corp in World War II, stationed primarily in the interior of mainland China. After the war he worked for 32 years side by side with his father, friend, and mentor, George Anast, at the Granger Market. He was extremely proud of his Greek heritage and enjoyed reading and writing the Greek language. Chris was a lifelong member of the Greek Orthodox Church and was dedicated to his religion. He loved duck hunting and fishing. He was known for his keen sense of humor and harmonizing with his three sons.

Funeral Service, Tuesday, January 19, 2010, 11:00 a.m. Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral 279 South 300 West in Salt Lake City. Trisagion prayer service, Monday evening 7:30 p.m. at the Cathedral. Family will be at the Cathedral Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price. Friends and family are welcome to share memories of Chris at mitchellfuneralhome.net. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Salt Lake City or the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Price.
